The post comes courtesy of Stephanie Blakely Calabrace, who said that if you “have to bathe and dress your kid, comb their hair, scramble them an egg, and write them a send-off letter before they can exit the car” then you “DO NOT BELONG IN THE SCHOOL DROP-OFF LINE.” She said that kids should be trained to “jump out of the car with backpacks loaded like they are storming the beaches of Normandy while the car is at a slow roll.” She then said that she would start handing out citations to violators of the school drop-off etiquette so that they will see the error of their ways and change for the better. The post clearly resonated with other frustrated parents, as her epic rant quickly went viral. Calabrace’s righteous plea has been shared more than 13,000 times and has over a thousand comments. Hopefully, parents who have indulged in bad drop-off behavior will take the post to heart and get their kids moving a little more quickly. Because while it’s always admirable for a parent to want to spend more time with their child, the school drop-off line is not the place to do it.
